Computer Shuts Off While In Video Games (More info inside)

Hello lady's and gentlemen. First off, let me say thank you for taking the time to help me. I realize a lot of you guys do this and a lot of it goes unspoken. But before I explain my problem let me say thank you and I mean it.

The problem:

One day Starcraft II made my fan on my old graphics card stop working (ATI Radeon 9800 (3850) HD catalyst). When my fan stopped working I noticed several problems started to occur. First, my computer would shut off due from anti over heating. So I placed a fan on my PC blowing to keep it cool while I gamed.

Current problem:

I bought a 5770 video card by XFX and it is super fast but the same problem happens; my computer shuts off due to heat and the video card fan is still working. When it shut off with my new video card, the computer was very hot and the back of my PC was blowing out REALLY hot air from my video card vent.

How can I fix this? How can I detect the problem? Any help appreciated and thanks for taking the time to help me!

Are all of the fans working?
 
continuing to play games when the card fan failed is probably where you went wrong and it sounds like something is permanently damaged.
 
Yes, all my fans are working and the funny thing is; when I put my hand in my computer and feel the strength of the fans, they feel weak. This could be a bias of mine but they don't feel powerful. Also, seems like the fan in my 5770 isn't rotating as fast as it should.

I'm thinking I need to get a new computer. Possible damaged power supply or just a slow motherboard in general (although the performance is fine when I'm gaming and all around).
 
I also want to say that it could be my power supply. My PSU i only 400w and my machine possibly too powerful for it?

Duo core processor 2.6ghz, 3 gigs of ram and a 5770 video card, possible I'm overworking my power supply of only 400w?


Please help!
