computer shuts off while running windows xp home install need help?

okay finally made a disk and updated the microcode, "P4 3.00ghz f41, P4SD HP-d330" upgraded cpu. board supports 3.2ghz everything is in good shape. except the computer is now turning off and on ?? at random spots after boot up and into windows xp home installation formatting ect.. got it to 90% format then came up with an file error then shut off anything? cpu getting to hot?? whats the deal? no beeps i think it might be cpu thermopaste??
 
i turn it on then try to boot windows installation everythings good then try to format the hard disk then shuts down then i try it again and same thing but different spot in the progress BUT when i sit in the F10 menu for few hours and will not shut down like in the windows installation cd...could be bad CD?
