Computer Shutting down (kinda) problem...

Hey guys

Havent been on in a while

My bro has a problem with his comp that he has never had before

he has a Intel C2D E6400 Oced to 2.6GHz
Biostar 965 Chipset
2 Gigs DDR2 667 Ram
ATI 1650 256mb GFX card
CM 590 Centurion Case (2 exhast fans top and back, 1 intake front)

Now the problem comes when he plays CoD or any other games.

While playing, after about 20 minutes, his computer monitor switches off, but the computer is still running. His character is still in game, but everything just stops.

No Sound, nothing

He has to shut down his comp to restart.

Now i dont think its a heat issue, as it doesnt actually shut down, its just his monitor that goes black, and he cant really do anything with his computer...

any ideas???

It still could be a heat problem with the GPU if I'm not mistaken. I think that when your GPU overheats you'll get system hang-ups but not a complete system shutdown/restart. I could be wrong though. Have you had him check his temps during game play?

That was my first thought, but it doesnt makes sense though...

the problem comes now that the GFX card has no sensor...

so all the programs i use cant read its temps...

the thing is, it happens after 20 - 30 minutes.

the gfx card will hit max temp in 2 minutes of playing the game...

any other ideas?
