computer shutting off on its own

I was just uploading pics to myspace and my computer just shut off. It was like someone unplugged it! Just Bam! a black screen and it booted back up on its own! Any ideas what happened??

It's funny how scared you can get when something goes wrong. (At least i do since i don't know too much about computers.)
 
my computer did this when i had a peice of plastic stuck in one of the RAM slots. so take your sticks out blow in the slots and make sure theyre seated correctly.
 
it could have been the BSoD, sometimes, when you get BSoD and its not a serious issue, like a simple failure, sometimes it will just reboot, without even getting the actual blue screen, on windows XP, there is a setting to tell your computer not to reboot, when such an error occurs.
 
I cleared out the ram slots just in case. I am guessing it wasn't something major as it's never happened before and hasn't happened since.
