computer shutting off?

Hello there! First off, I am having some serious issues with my computer. It's an HP Pavilion dv4000 Laptop. I don't know if that will help you any, but it's been acting weird. I will be using my computer and all of a sudden it will shut off. Just completely shut off, and i have no idea why it would do this. I really don't know much about computers. well, lets face it. I know nothing about them. Any help is much appreciated.

Most common reason is that it is over heating. Does it feel like it is getting really hot? Hotter than usual?

I did a search on your model, seems like you have a fairly common problem with your laptop, but no one seems to have a solution. I searched HP's website with no answer.

Some say it is over heating, some say thats not the problem. Some say to update your bios, some say to clean the vents on the bottom of the case with a can of compressed air.

i would try the compressed air, my dell had the same problem and the compressed air helped it out...
