Computer slow after system restore

It really doesn't matter what you use as nothing is full proof against malware attacks. New malware comes out on a daily basis and unless that program already has the definitions installed to protect you against, then you'll just get reinfected. Common sense is the most important to keep yourself from not getting infected. The most common infection is what I call the drive-by type. This is where you browse or search for stuff and the link you click on takes you to a malicious website. Most antivirus programs have a siterep addon that tells you in searches if that site is safe or not. I use Avast and it has it, not sure if MSE does or not.

When you reinstalled Windows, did you format the drive first? The infection that MSE is saying you have is what we call a mbr/ bootkit infection. Tdsskiller should have found it and removed it. I'm at work now and would like you to run a different mbr scan before you reinstall Windows again. I'll post the link for it when I get home later.

Killdisk will wipe the partition but it won't back up Windows 7. You may need to ask Acer to send you a copy of the Windows 7 restore CDs (you may have to pay a small fee) as Killdisk may also wipe out the recovery partition if there is one.

You can always try using the recovery partition to restore Windows 7 first before you use Killdisk. As soon as the computer boots up, you'll see the Acer splashscreen. Have a look and see if it mentions a key to press to access recovery.
