computer speakers and speakers at the same time

Is it possible for my laptop to play its own speaker and also play a set of two other speakers so i have 3 speakers playing music sort of like surround sound?

Nope. You can use one or the other, but not both at the same time.

None that I know of.

It all depends on the hardware. In most cases, plugging things into the headphone port or other output on a laptop will mute or disconnect the mains using a hardware switch. Nothing you can do.

I'd try to find a cheap 5.1 speaker set up if it was me. You might be able to get something for 50-60 bucks.

It would require a sound controller to go with it. He'd have to get something USB or PC card format.
