Computer speed

Hi!

I was just wondering what are the main elements that determine how fast a computer is. Is it a question of hard disk, memory, or anything else?

I just bought a second hand computer (im not sure about all its parts right now) and i find it to be kind of slow, and i know it is a question of hardware because it is very "clean".

it is a combination of many things including in order cpu, ram, hard drive speed
there is aslo motherboard on there
and it can be a toss up between cpu nd ram as to which is most important in speed. If i were to upgrade an old system ram would be the first place i would look. Make sure you have plenty.
 
Hehe, I'm sure my old T-Birt 1.4GHz would game MUCH better than my Laptop with a Sempron 2800 :P So yeah, pure power isn't everything.
