My computer has the usual pop-up problem that occurs pretty frequently.

This one is called Virtumonde, and causes ads like what you describe. It is very hard to remove, but delete it anyway and see if it comes back: (it regenerates)

Bobo is correct but you will need a specialty cleaning tool and a few other programs.Begin here.

Download Ewido http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ then set it up this way http://rstones12.geekstogo.com/ewidosetup.htm You will need this later in safe mode
Make sure to update this program.

Download ATF-Cleaner to your desktop from this link

Download, install and update this excellent freebie- Superantispyware here http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html

Download 'VundoFix.exe' to your desktop here http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4

Disable Norton Antivirus.

* Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
* Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task.
* You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
* When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
* Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
* You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
* Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
* When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
* Turn your computer back on.

Once this tool has finished,
reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

Restart your computer

After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;

Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;

Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".

Choose your usual account.
Make sure to disable Norton and any other spyware program you have.

From safemode, run Ewido and then Superantispyware and let them delete what they find.

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

Reboot into normal windows and run 'HJT' again and post a new log.

Hey... this is my new log... um one problem occured due the process... the vundofix didnt start up again by itself (only a black box appeared and dispeared in a split second)... so I just clicked open the vundofix by myself...

Still some things to take care of.First, go to 'add/remove programs' and uninstall all versions of 'Java' and reboot your computer.

Next, download 'Killbox' here http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.exe to your desktop.You will need it later in safe mode.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode.

Make sure all security programs- e.g. Norton are disabled.

Run Hijack This from safe mode, close all windows except Hijack This, place a check to the left of the following items and press "fix checked".

Exit Hijack This but remain in safe mode

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it.
Put a tick by Standard File Kill.
In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste the following line.

C:\WINDOWS\System32\pushow42.dll

Click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter the file.
It will ask for confimation to delete the file.
Click Yes.

Run ATF-Cleaner from safe mode again.

Reboot into normal windows and install the latest version of Java here http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Run 'HJT' again and post a new log.

Everything works fine now, except a few pages wont load right (during the process of installing the new java... Norton said it found a virus trying to get in my system and its from the java thing...) but whatever ... thanks!!!
