Hi, my computer tower is currently located directly to the left of my keyboard and monitor on top of the desk. The floor is carpeted. It's winter and the air (and my skin) is very dry, and I frequently get small shocks from my aluminum Lian-Li case. I thought nothing of this until I got a small shock while I was playing a game, and the computer shut down immediately and had trouble restarting. Luckily, after leaving it off for a few minutes, I was able to get it running again.
So anyway, I'm wondering what are some measures I can take to avoid static with my case? Should I put it on the carpet or leave it on the desk? Could I maybe put some kind of rubber underneath it? I'm really up for anything; I want to get through the winter without completely frying my computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Luckily, I've had 3+ fish tanks for the last 4 years and didn't need to deal with it, but before that, I used a humidifier tucked away in a psuedo-central location to prevent the bone-dryness associated with CH.
