Computer to TV

I have a XFX 7600GT video card with 2 DVI outputs. I was under the impression if I ran a DVI out of my card to my Sony BRAVIA KDL46HX820 HDMI that I could view my computer over my TV,but it doesn't seem to work. Help please

Laptop does it on a sony easy enough. Don't know how with yours but can be done.
Note though:
I had to push a button on the laptop and turn off the screen on the laptop and transfer video to tv.

Also have to change modes on the sony to receive the signal. Leave the laptop in the living room. sit there with a wireless keyboard and mouse and works fine.
 
I have switch over the tv to the proper HDMI input and tried both DVI outputs from the graphics card and get, your output device does not support this. Is my graphics card not capable of doing this?
