Computer turn on but no display

I put the computer together an now when I turn it on the fans spin and the lights come on but I don't get any video, I do however get a beep code. It beeps once when it first turns on then again about 10 seconds or so later. The motherboard is a Asus M4A785-M which I believe has an AMI BIOS.

Any ideas would really be appreciated I have searched and racked my brain over it for hours and gotten no where.

If this is a new build you just put together and you aren't getting any video then this is what you do:

disassemble it and put it back together outside the case on some cardboard or the antistatic bag that your mobo should have come in. I bet it'll turn on then.

Its a new build using RAM and CPU from my last computer. I haven't installed the video card yet as the mobo has a built in one. I'm using the HDMI port on that to hook up to my television. I'll try rebuilding it on cardboard but I'm not sure all the PSU wire are long enough.

You could always take the psu out as well. The probable cause of it not working is because you shorted it when you put it in the case. It's really common

Well I tried rebuilding it on top of cardboard but it did exactly the same thing. On for a couple seconds then one short beep and a second short beep 10 seconds after. No display at all.

Its a brand new mobo but I'll try plugging in the graphics card when I get home. Its the beeps that get me, best I can figure the code translates to RAM issues but the ram was just working fine in my old comp. Unfortunately its the only comp in the house that uses DDR2.

OK so I tried resetting the CMOS with the jumper thing and it still doesn't work. The beep code did change however. I now get the same one beep but then after 10 seconds I get 3 beeps now instead of one. So I don't know, I've triple checked connections and built and rebuilt it twice, read through the entire mobo manual and still no luck. I'm totally out of ideas.

I've had this problem once before. Turned out to be a bad mobo. RMA'd to newegg, they sent me a new one and it worked fine.
