Hi Guys I need ur help
=========================================================
Two days ago I was playing World of Warcraft and then my PC just restarted by itself (no bluescreens) then after the Windows Logo showed up it ended up resarting again. After that I unplugged my PC and waited for 10min too cool it down for a while. And then turned it On again, So I opened the World of Warcraft again and after 2min it restarted..... So after it worked again I decide to stop opening for a while cause I thought it might be the problem but after browsing the web and listening to some music and watching Youtube, after for 30min of doing that my PC restarted again (no blue screen's).

I used the online Malware and Trojan Scanner, tried installing it and run it and when it comes to 30% of scanning my PC it just turn off.

So then I left my PC idle (my PC runs 40c-50c in Idle state) and slept for 7hours after I woke up I saw my PC restarting.

So I think its not a overheating problem maybe a malware or some shit >_<.

This PC were running fine for 2 yrs and also been playing World of Warcraft for 2 yrs too and now I cant play and fix it.

So I think its not a overheating problem
Temperature
* 40c-50c Idle State
* 80-90c ( Wow opened with music on )

And you think it's *not* a heat issue? Do you have good case airflow (lower cool air intake, upper warm air exhaust)? Have you cleaned out any dust inside your case?

I'd grab a can of compressed air, open up the case and blow out all the dust. For good measure, you may want to pull the HSF and re-apply thermal paste, too.

Whoa, you shouldn't use the s*** word!

I hear it too much as a HS teacher!

Anyways...
start considering a new PSU.

dxhunter,

I'm pretty sure you need a new Power Supply Unit because my computer was doing the same exact thing except I'm not a gamer. Eventually it just wouldn't boot up anymore and I had to go get a new power supply unit.

James

Did anyone see imsati's post? Load temps get up to 80-90c under load, that might well be the reason for this... and I honestly don't think this is a PSU issue, it seems that people are just repeating each other's suggestions...

Yeah, I AGREE, His temperatures are WAY WAY too high. Even his Idle is too High. 50c Should be the temperature under Load, and even that is a bit High. Blow the thing out. Maybe you should Remove your Heatsink and reapply the Thermal Compound. If you do that, Make sure that ALL, I REPEAT - ALL - of the Old thermal compound is removed. I like to use Alcohol applied to a Soft Rag. Once you have removed the Old stuff, Apply a small Dot of Compound no more than the size of a BB. What i do next is place the Heatsink on the BB of Compound and twist the Heatsink a little to distribute. Then Lock it all down. another solution is that you could switch to AMD and heat wouldn't be a problem anymore.

I really don't think AMDs are any better at handling heat than intels, and if they are that's probably because many AMDs are either 90 or 65nm whereas intels are 65 or 45nm and the smaller the numbers go, the lower the heat tolerance... but heat can kill AMDs just as well it can kill intels.

I agree.... my AMD sites at 30 to 40C under load..... and so would an intel!

maybe you didn't read the info. carefully, i have been playing WOW for TWO YEARS which means it has been running for 80-90c. P4 runs hot so this is normal.

i'll try to change my PSU now and i will post again if the problem still persists.

yea but there is more dust build up from 2 years ago, so ur temps r higher rite now then they were wen u first got ur computer. its not good for a computer to run at 80-90c, open ur case up and clean it out then buy another fan

Have you got "Automatic Restart" ticked, if so untick it and look for the error message.

*You* came looking for help, I tried to give it. Running hot or not, 80-90 is quite warm, even for a P4.

Another charming new member from the looks of it... :rolleyes: Glad you fixed the issue, enjoy your stay, FWIW.
