Computer turns on but nothing pops on screen

Hello everyone

I am having some issues with my computer. The computer I am referencing to is in my SIG

Ive owned it for quite some time now

When I turn on my compy, nothing shows on screen.

I took apart everything and tried everything 1 at a time and still nothing.

Ive taken my comp out of the case so as to try it without the standoffs and it still shows nothing...

I just cant figure it out????

Any ideas??

No, the monitor works, but the video card-- I'm not sure of. My motherboard does not have it's own video output, so I can't test it. :(
 
but if it was the video card then surely it would beep wouldnt it? you tryed another cable that links your moniter to your computer, its a far stretch bt you never know.. XD

i am nearly %100 sure it isnt a video problem because Before my computer started messing up, the motherboard would "beep" when I started up my computer normally. Now it does not and now doesnt show anything on screen... :(
 
Does your system have a motherboard speaker? If not, it isn't surprising you are getting no beeps, because there is no speaker to give the beeps

Does your system POST, and can you see it doing so?

Have you changed any hardware/software recently, as I would revert to what you had before (if you have done and if you can) and see if it then works.

If you can't go back, or if you haven't changed any hardware, take out all the hardware so you have only your motherboard, CPU, 1 stick of memory, 1 hard drive, CD drive. Take out your sound card, other drive, etc, so you have only what is in that list. Apart from your monitor and keyobard, unplug all external peripherals too, so you have no speakers, mouse, mic, webcam, printer, whatever else you have hooked up.

See if it boots then.

If it does not, try with your other sticks of memory 1 at a time. If that fails, it is most probably a hardware problem. If that is the case, your only way to find out is to swap components into a system which you know works, until the the working system fails because of the hardware you put in.

If that didn't make sense, say you have a fully working computer. Take out the memory and put the memory from the computer which isn't showing an output and put it in. If it works, change for your video card. If it then fails, you know it is either your video card, or it is the video card and the memory having compatibility issues that are causeing your problem.
 
Yup, mobo has a speaker and it has always beeped when it has turned on but no longer does :(

System does NOT post :(

Aastii, took your advice, stripped down compy... still nothing :(

Tried all 4 ram sticks, 1 at a time...even tried different ram slots... nothing...

Swapped all components out... still nothing... i have a bad feeling that after 4 years, my cpu has just fried :(

any more thoughts?

If the CPU fried, it would likely be running the cpu fan full blast. Doing nothing sounds like the mobo's gone bad.
 
well it does power on, and ALL fans including the CPU fan are going at what i think is normal speed, but there is no initial "beep" and absolutely nothing shows on screen... so yes the cpu fan is going
 
If you have been playing with your system, check you put all the power cables back in, including the CPU power cable to the motherboard

Try resetting the CMOS, either use the jumper on the motherboard, or take the battery out for 20 minutes then put it back in and try starting up again. Remember once you have removed the power lead to press the power button a few times to drain any residual power from your system before changing the jumpers or removing the battery
 
I just took out the 3V battery, hit the power button like 10 times, waited near 20 minutes, put it back in, and tried it again..... same... nada... :(

because you can't get any output on screen, the only way you will be able to find out is to swap out parts.

If you don't have another system with similar specs that most, or preferably all, parts will work on, take it down to your nearest computer shop and they will do it, for a price though
