Computer turns on, screen is blank

 i put an nvidea geforce fx5500 256mb agp graphics card in my computer. It sometimes turns on fine and works for about an hour, but then the screen freezes, makes some pretty colours, then turns off. The computer stays on but the screen refuses to do anything. the computer will then not turn back on for a couple of hours, or it will turn on but the screen stays dead. I have tried taking the card out, but the same happens again, so it doesn't seem to be the card. The screen is also fine on any other computer. It doesn't seem to overheat, the card's heatsink is very cool as it is usually only on for about an hour. When I Took the computer to our local computer repair shop, they were confused too. They had run some diagnostics tests and came up with these results
-"The video card was unable to change into all the modes which it reports as supported."
-Video memory tests = OK
-Processor = OK
-Mainboard = OK
-System memory = OK
-Cacher memory = OK
-HDD Cachr = OK
-Drivers = OK
-Read / Verify = OK

when it happens again, turn your system off and then unplug the psu from the power outlet, leave it unplugged and then plug it back after about ten seconds... if it turns on straight away it could mean that you either have a psu or motherboard problem.

other than that you could try running the vard in another system

First off, let me tell you your English is very good for a 1 year old. Perhaps you could specify your teacher so he/she can teach me French??? :P

As far as your pc is concerned, is your graphics card still under warranty? If so I would suggest getting it replaced. If a computer repair shop can't figure out the root cause, you have something seriously wrong. I know you said you tried taking the card out (could you explain this?), but if it's not the card then the only other thing it could be is the motherboard, which I doubt.

Hey, I unpluged everything (took out cards, unplugged every wire) inside the machine and plugged them all back in and it worked again! No idea why.

it was probably due to a component such as your graphics card not being seating correctly on the motherboard
