I see a few issues off the bat.

1. combofix shows you still have 2 active antivirus programs installed - AVG and Avast

Does AVG appear in add/remove programs list?

2. Get rid of this software.

c:\documents and settings\art\Application Data\TuneUp Software

Look for it in add/remove programs and uninstall it.

3. I see you have may have a hard drive problem as I see a folder was created on 7/25/2013

C:\found.001

What I would like for you to do is the following.

1.

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your Desktop.

•Please close all open programs and internet browsers.
•Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
•Click on Delete.
•Confirm each time with OK
•Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
•Please post the content of that logfile in your reply.
•You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[Sn].txt as well - n is the order number.

2. When you ran combofix, it created a log but didn't show you. Please navigate to C:\Qoobox and in that folder will be a file named add-remove programs.txt Open that file and copy and paste the contents back here.

3. What brand of hard drive do you have? Have you tried running a drive diagnostic on it?

I did run a hard drive test got program from the hard drive section here, said hard drive passed, cant find avg in add remove programs did remove before installing avast. Did not see any tuneup programs looked on files and folder in search menu and nothing showed up.

Can you follow #2 in my reply and post the results of the add-remove programs.txt file?

Why u keep deleting my reply? Im not breaking any of the rules on this forum. Im trying to help the man out. You got him wasting time checking the hard drive when it's obviously a MALWARE PROBLEM.. HIs hard drive is fine.

Because I have a certain process of elimination I use to determine whats wrong with the system.

All you do is list programs. You don't even tell him how to use them. I have this under control. I make sure that all nonsense software is uninstalled from his system before I do anything else.

And if his hard drive is fine, why is there a check disk file that was made last month? Obviously, you don't know too much.

I hope I did this correct

I did run a hard drive test but it was on sunday and it said passed. I dont think my mom ran anything but not sure.

Uninstall the following programs.

AVG 2012
Driver Genius Professional Edition 2007
MarketResearch
Startup Delayer v3.0 (build 331)

Also rerun hijackthis and place a check next to this entry.

O2 - BHO: Accelerator Plugin - {656EC4B7-072B-4698-B504-2A414C1F0037} - C:\PROGRA~1\PEOPLE~1\PRPL_I~1.DLL (file missing)

Then click on fix checked.

Have you ran Ccleaner lately? If not, I would suggest you do so now. Open the program, click on run cleaner.

All you do is list programs. You don't even tell him how to use them.

The programs I listed are what the professionals use. I made a lot of money using the tools I just listed. ;) Also, why would I repeat what you already said?

You already told him in detail how to run Adwcleaner that is why I didn't tell him how to use it.

I have this under control.

What are you gonna do delete everyone's reply that is more knowledgeable than yours? At least have the common courtesy to send a PM (private message) stating why.

Any "decent" moderator would do this. I know this because I use to be a moderator for other computer forums.

On a side note ---> I don't think you have "this" under control. The guy already stated his hdd (hard drive) is fine, he ran a scan it came back fine, you keep asking him about his hard drive. ;)

He is having a software malware issue. why do you think I listed that specific software.

And if his hard drive is fine, why is there a check disk file that was made last month? Obviously, you don't know too much.

Again, The guy already stated his hdd (hard drive) is fine, he ran a scan it came back fine, you keep asking him about his hard drive. I stated this yesterday but again, you deleted my reply.

Obviously, you don't know too much.

That is why, I own my own computer business because "I know nothing about computers" hahaha... Well, that can be our little secret. ;)

PS; I know my stuff when it comes to computers. This is my bread and butter and how I support my family, so obviously, I know a little something about computers. ;) Since you want to hit below the belt I will do the same,,, Your 26,265 posts/replies since 2005 tells me you have "no life". I'm a proud member of ANTIONLINE.COM, neworder.box.sk www.2600.com www.defcon.org SINCE 2000. I know my sh!±. ;)

It's quality, not quantity, that matters on the computer forums "moderator". Your 26,265 is for the birds.

I've worked on computers for the past 18 years, have my own computer repair business.

You know its funny, you keep saying its malware but golly, The logs show there really isn't malware on his machine.

Looks like he ran the windows version of the diagnostic tool, which isn't very reliable. Always run the dos version.

And where do you see I keep asking him about the hard drive? I don't see it. He has bad software on his system and probably hasn't done any system maintenance on it. Plus its windows XP and it tends to corrupt itself over time.

If malwarebytes, adware cleaner and avast came up clean, then this doesn't seem to be a malware issue now does it? Not to mention that combofix shows nothing either.

It is running faster now, this is my moms machine at this point I cant get her to get a newer one. I will download the dos version of the hard drive checker and recheck that.

Thank you again for your time.

...PS; I know my stuff when it comes to computers.

Really? Well why in another thread would you tell someone the best way to speed up their computer is to go from 8GB RAM to 16GB RAM when they have spinning media HDD? You clearly have no idea.

The problem here mate is that you don't know JOhn, nor his success rate with helping people on this topic, nor his methodology and your posts in between and during a process are simply distracting nonsense that causes the OP more problems.

Have some respect mate, because based on your other posts, its clear that your own sense of ability far outweighs your actual knowledge.

Glad John's work helped mate. Also defrag the HDD now if you haven't already. I would use Auslogic Defragger.

I didn't know if this guy is running multiple applications (multiple games) at once on his computer. I'm currently shopping online and I seen systems that offer 16 GB of RAM which hold to 32 GB of RAM which I agree a bit much..

The problem here mate is that you don't know JOhn,

You're right. I don't know Johnb35. Just like he don't know me. ;) I posted in replies in he deletes my reply added his own. No explanation at least have the decency and common courtesy to send a PM stating why? I wasnt breaking rules, or being a douche, he said he's got this under control and deleted my reply ---> this "moderator is on a power trip. It seems I'm not the only member here who this happened too.;)

Just because Im new here to this forum doesn't mean I don't my stuff. I know he is smart when it comes to computers you can tell by his replies. But from what I do know I posted useful information to help resolve the mans issue. I wasn't disrespectful, being a douche or giving incorrect information the same applications I was recommending are the same ones johnb35 did.

Much like your response to this thread.

I'm not showing any respect for who someone who doesn't respect me. All this was done and over with until you posted this non-sense I guess you like DRAMA. Again, I know my stuff in different computer fields. I have my A+ certification in PC HARDWARE and Software

I also have my associates degree in Computer Information Systems Management from Rasmussen college since 2009. I'm also MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) and have my MCTS certification from exam 70-209... want pics of them I would be more than happy to post them ;) next time, maybe you should find another way to be a buthead.

I can't send you a pm because 100 posts are required to get access to the PM feature. The reason I was deleting your posts because you were giving the OP wrong information. Here is a screenshot of your first post I deleted.

Those 2 items you said are nasty is the Avast software, how is Avast nasty? Also, you do realize the most hijackthis analyzers are only a generic readout of the log? You shouldn't do everything it tells you to do. Also, you had told him to download and run adware cleaner, which I already told him to do.

I wasnt breaking rules, or being a douche, he said he's got this under control and deleted my reply ---> this "moderator is on a power trip. It seems I'm not the only member here who this happened too.;)

Who is this other member you are referring to? If its the user I think you are referring to, you have no clue who this member is. She started coming here about 10 months ago and starting causing issues so she was banned and she keeps coming back and she don't understand why we won't let her stay. So unless you know what the particulars about something, don't bring it up. Are you talking about this post?

[/QUOTE]

If so, then this is the troublesome user I was talking about. She has been banned from other forums as well.

Well obviously you were wrong in this case as you keep stating that its a malware issue and clearly it is not. I wasn't being disrespectful either by deleting your post, just didn't want the OP to go off thinking he's infected, which he's not.

I'm not showing any respect for who someone who doesn't respect me. All this was done and over with until you posted this non-sense I guess you like DRAMA. Again, I know my stuff in different computer fields. I have my A+ certification in PC HARDWARE and Software

Again, you were giving the OP wrong information. I really don't care about your certifications/degrees. I care about giving the OP valid information concerning his/her issue.

Here is your second post I deleted.

Again, what you are telling him to do is not a good idea. You tell him not to use Avast or AVG to check for malware. While I may agree with out about AVG... But whats wrong with Avast? I use it and install it on all my clients computers. I do agree that adware cleaner and junkware removal tool are really good programs to run to check for malware/adware.

Why u keep deleting my reply? Im not breaking any of the rules on this forum. Im trying to help the man out. You got him wasting time checking the hard drive when it's obviously a MALWARE PROBLEM.. HIs hard drive is fine.

And again, its not a malware problem. It seems the procedure I had him do has sped up his system.

PS; I know my stuff when it comes to computers. This is my bread and butter and how I support my family, so obviously, I know a little something about computers. ;) Since you want to hit below the belt I will do the same,,, Your 26,265 posts/replies since 2005 tells me you have "no life". I would bet the hundreds of people I have helped would disagree with the last statement in that quote. And for your knowledge, I joined back here in September 2007 and have a average daily post count of a whopping 9.08 posts per day!!! And obviously, I wouldn't have become a moderator and then a global moderator if I didn't know what I was doing. I have a full time job, work over 40 hours a week, have a girlfriend, have a daughter that I do things with every other weekend, have my own computer repair business which most of the time its malware removal or building new systems. So I feel I have done pretty good giving my spare time to help others in need. In fact I wished I had more time to give to the forum as I enjoy helping others solve their problems, makes you feel good inside.

So for future reference, I will delete posts that give bad information. You wasn't the first and definitely won't be the last.

John you don't have to defend yourself. Your reputation here is solid.

@ irongeek2012, you need to pull your head in. Qualifications mean nothing if you providing incorrect advice, this is not a public space (read the rules) and moderators do just that, moderate. This includes preventing either superfluous or incorrect advice either wasting someone’s time, or damaging or creating more issues. This is what you were doing.

In the end, it doesn't matter, you're lucky you didn't get an infraction, i would’ve got 3. ;)
