computer virus help

hiya everyone basically i think my computer has picked up a virus. im not fully great on computers but i do get to do all my familys

anyway basically everytime i try to go into my documents it crashes and most of the time doesnt open it

sometimes my computer wont open either. also the bottom bar also sometimes dissapears.

everything else on the computer works fine. internet etc.

before i had norton but i have now got avg and adaware as well

i have tried msconfig to get rid of unwanted programs running slowing the computer.

i have also run computer in safe mode and run adaware. first of all it picked up a few things. now avg, norton or adaware cant find a single problem even though my computer is still the same

i have been using the help of a friend who is very clued up on computers and i still cant fix it.

also the cpu goes from 1% to like 100% suddenly it hardly stays in the middle like my grandads computer.

its a hp pavilion with amd athlon 3200+ processor 1 gb ram etc.

the computers is over 2 years old now never had a problem up until now

hmm go to your safe mode and find it . It wont kick u out in safe mode . if you using windows xp restart and hold i think F8. Then go down to safe mode using arrow keys.
 
i dont know what the problem is thats why. i have been into safe mode loads of times

still cant find a problem nor can anything i use

shall i just reboot the comp from scratch and back up as much as possible.

how do you do this on a hp computer as im sure theres no discs with it. i think you can do it through windows

not fully sure any help appreciated thanks
 
New computers dont use restore disks they have a drive just for reinstalling the computer, if you restart the computer and hear it beep and hit i think F6 then full restore or something, you can restore the computer.

USually its the (D) restore drive if im no mistaken.

Anyway, any other computer wize can correct me.
