1. Your point?Well, the PS3 has an 8 core CPU...Got to give em that...
That, as I said in my post, is a matter of opnion (and also, as i noted in my post, if the game is made for it)no widescreen in your face while playing the game makes it very very enjoyable
You're right. It doesnt.Im guessing you are making the incorrect assumption that you cant hookup a PC to that....also a 10000 inch tv doesnt add "sweetness" to a ps3 or xbox
I don't know about that. If I had that size of a screen to play my PS2 on (and the sound system to back it up) it'd be pretty sweet. Now make that a PS3 and a game that actually uses all the power available to it...I'd say that's a lot of 'sweetness.'also a 10000 inch tv doesnt add "sweetness" to a ps3 or xbox
Im not sure thats contextually relevant as the thread deals with comparing the various platforms rather than asking "does the PS3 have any merit"My point, the PS3 actually has something good about them.
Physically yes. But whether or not the cores are functionally available is another issue. I know they issued a notice to devs not to explicitly rely on 8 cores ... course that was awhile back, i hope thats been rectified as of nowIf you want to get technical the PS3 has an 8 core

A comparison requires two things (which i think is the root of my original comment) ....Well this is the PS3 vs. computer vs. 360 thread isn't it? Platform or what ever, its still comparing things about them. .
Is not a comparison. My point, the PS3 actually has something good about them.
Perhaps but in the spirit of comparisons, 8 cores arent anything new. Also, like 8-way SMP, that level of threading isnt often used by gaming (especially as each generation has a substantial increase in per-core performance thus nulling the need -- until now, for increased core counts)side with PC, but I'm just saying that the only good thing the PS3 has in my mind, is an 8 core processor.
I hadn't heard anything about that, I knew they were having serious yeild trouble getting units off the line with at least 7 operational SPEs. The 8th core (the PPE) is more a dispatcher if my understanding is correct and there are supposed to be only 6 SPEs available to developers, the 7th is reserved for OS tasks.Physically yes. That might have been the eventual turnout ... I'll look into it more when I find the time but my comments are driven from some info i got quite some time ago (about when cells were rolling off the fabs)I hadn't heard anything about that, I knew they were having serious yeild trouble getting units off the line with at least 7 operational SPEs.
