Computer won`t shut down

Sorry Guy`s. Me again!
Just clicked Start then Shut Down and the computer didn`t. It went off and started up again as if I had clicked on Restart. Tried it a couple of times but it just starts up again. Any Idea`s?

check before you shut down the p.c. when the window pops up sometimes in past when you do restart the p.c. the settings stay the same and you forget to change it back.

that wouldnt be the case in XP with the normal XP theme though as there is no drop down box, its a selection of buttons instead.

try virus checking. if there's nothing, check your active apps, maybe its stuck on something, so close it.

you can put up the pull down menu on that screen in XP tough

That's because Windows can't unload a driver or TSR properly. Try fiddling around with MSCONFIG for starters until you find out what is not unloading. After that you will have to screw around with drivers until you find the one that is causing the problem.

Ive got one because I never got used to the buttons. I also use windows classic theme

hence why i said normal xp theme, its a button as standard.

gawd.. i wish i had a pc that wouldnt shut down... then i would have an excuse to stay up all night =']
