HELP!!! Computer won't boot :(

Well I recently built my first and for some reason it won't work now. It consists of:
Asus P5Q SE mobo
Intel E7200 OC'd to 3.5ghz
8gb of RAM
Antec (420watt I believe) Power supply
EVGA 8800GTS

whenever I turned it on the fans would run fast for like a second then go down to idle...now whenever I try to turn it on they just stay at that fast speed and never go down to idle. It also just hangs on a black screen, it won't even show the bios or anything...no clue why.

Before this happened I was in the process of swapping hard drives around to install XP on a second drive but I decided not to and shut it off. However it boot again after that but it wasn't recognizing my DVD drive which is why I restarted it the last time it worked...won't turn on now :( Everything in there is brand new...

EDIT: I've got a spare PSU and the comp did the same thing when trying to boot. Occasionally when I try to boot it, it will run the fans for a split second then shut off, then boot again and stay on...by on I mean just hanging there running the fans at max speed...

EDIT2: Tried resetting it via the little jumper, no luck. Tried taking the battery out and resetting it that way...no luck

no I don't think you understand...I'm not trying to boot an operating system anymore...it won't even boot the BIOS. I have all hard drives and disc drives disconnected from it and it won't do anything :(

The only thing I can think of is it sounds like my mobo died for no reason

The 4-pin CPU power plug is connected - right? Maybe a stupid question.
Any beep code errors? I'm sure you would have mentioned them if so, but I had to ask.
You might try assembling everything outside of the case to see if it will work then. Maybe it is shorting out somehow.

That's all I can really think of other than, as you said, the MB is at fault. Good luck.

well i swapped out my GPU with an older one, reseated the cpu and heatsink, then took out 4 gigs of ram....and it posted! No idea why though. Tried to put the other 4gb back in and it wouldn't post but after swapping the sticks around and trying different slots I got it to boot with all 8gb. Stuck the new GPU back in and I'm back up and running!

Something must have gotten knocked loose when I was messing around with it. Either the cpu, ram, or gpu and that was keeping it from posting. :P

Thanks guys
