Computer Won't Post

The cpu socket is now likely shot. I've done this on 2 old 478 boards and it would never boot up again. So definately order a new motherboard.

Still a question though. Can I post without a video card?
 
Depends. I've seen some will and some won't. You do have a system speaker attached to the motherboard correct?
 
Happy developments. I reseated CPU and it posted. Don't have time to do anything else as I work soon. Will post back with update. Very happy.
 
All is working smoothly. I may have to redo my thermal paste though. I just stuck it back on there and it was sitting out to open air for several hours on both the cooler and the CPU. My temps are kinda high for idle at stock clocks but maybe I just don't remember it very well. Also something is making some weird noises. I'm guessing it's a fan (probably my GPU cooler vibrating in place since it's not completely on there right). Hopefully not my HDD.


Edit: Weird noises are gone. Temps were high because my voltage bump from my OC was still in place but I had bumped down the multiplier to normal. Back at 4.0GHz again. RAM still thinks there is only 10GB useable but I can fix that. My motherboard doesn't like auto setting up RAM for some reason and I always have to manually tweak it. If I don't do it right then it doesn't "see" all of it.

I tried GTA4 with this and ICEnhancer on at 4.0GHz OC. It totally froze and I had to hard shut down. Upon doing that it popped up and said my OC had failed. Stupid me set it back to what it was before and I save changes and rebooted. Never posted. Had to take out CPU again. Tested it like 4 times and no use. Took out all but one RAM stick then it posted. Added them back one by one until it posted with all 4. Reattached 212 and now it's running again. RAM is all detected correctly. I'm afraid of to OC back to 4.0GHz. I think I'm just gonna leave it as is for a while. I don't trust it very much. Board seems unstable.

I still assume you have socket damage because of the cpu coming out without the latch being released. Or its even possible cpu damage.

That's kind what I'm thinking too. It's running alright right now but I'm afraid of OC'ing.

Also my beep codes do work. I tried booting without the CPU fan plugged in and it started beeping really madly at me.
