My cumputer and some other computers don't recognise my external hardrive. Even though they all have Windows XP. Assigning it a drive via my computer or trying to reinstall drivers via device manager doesn't seem to fix the problem. The external hardrive oprtates fine on some computers though. Even though they also have xp. Can anyone help

solution...???

Is plug and play enabled on the computers dont it doesnt work on?
you can enable plug and play support through the bios settings on your motherboard...

To enable it:

1. turn the computer on

2. press delete, F1 or F2 (every mother board is different ) keep pressing these buttons until it loads the bios.

3. look around for "Plug and Play" and enable it (use the arrow keys, enter button and esc button to move around)
BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE, TAKE YOUR TIME

4. look for the "save and exit" thing or something similar to that

5. the computer will restart and hopefully the problem is gone :)

Is it all USB powered or requires external power???

Have you tried USB straight onto the motherboard???
