Computer Won't Start After Tampering With RAM

Hi, I popped open my hard drive and took my RAM sticks out just to see what kind they were because I was thinking about upgrading. When I put the sticks back in and started up the computer, I got a message saying that the computer failed to boot from the disk and needed the OS cd. I didn't have it on me at the time, so I shut down and tried taking the sticks out and putting them back in and starting up again. This time, nothing showed up on the monitor, like it wasn't picking up the signal. I've tried removing the RAM sticks and putting them back in case there was an issue with how I was doing it or something. I haven't tried anything else because: 1) I'm pretty sure it has something to do with my RAM ports or something and 2) I don't know what else to try. I don't really know a whole lot about hardware so if anybody could give me any suggestions or any support at all, I would REALLY appreciate it.
Thanks.

i really hope u just mistyped when you say you popped open your hard drive looking for ram

ram.. isnt in your hard drive.. so if you really did open your hard drive.. u probbaly broke the hard drive. so.. that sucks

ok sorry i meant tower when i said hard drive. As in I took off the side panel like anybody would when you go to look at the inside of your computer.

its not booting at all now?

there is chance that you damaged the ram sticks when you removed them. if there was any kind of static shock when you touched them, than you can bet they're fried.

I don't remember getting a shock when I touched them but who knows..
Is there any other way to explain why it's not booting or should I just buy a RAM stick and see if that solves anything?

I'm not too sure that the RAM sticks are the problem because I have 2 of them and I don't think it's very likely that both of them are damaged but it's still possible. I also tried plugging them into different RAM ports so I don't think the ports are damaged.

did you make sure to get arid of and static shock before you touched anything? Even if you didnt feel anything there can still be enough to fry the ram cards. And it is possible that you conducted more when you grabbed the second card so that would explain both the cards frying. If you have any other computers you can take the ram out (carefully) and try it in your computer to see if it is the ram that would help. If your computer works with the other ram then you need to replace the broken ones. If it still doesn't work idk what would be wrong.

if you think its your ram, then get hold of another good ram stick replace the ram and check, if everything is right you will have a boot with your system, or else its not your ram check for other options like for loose connecton and stuffs and may be your hard drive lol.
