Hi,

I have sort of taken apart my computer and re-built it, I left the RAM and CPU in the Mobo and both the HDD and optical drive in there bays, I removed all my expansion cards (6800gt 256mb, wireless network card, 24bit soundcard, tv turner card).

I removed the PSU (antec 480w cool & quiet) and disconnected all the the power from the remaining hardware, my mobo is a Asus AN8-E, I took all the leds out also.

I then started to put everything back as I found it, the only thing I did differently to my initial build was to connect the front USB and mic where I figured they went (at the bottom right above the leds, they were in a block and I used the whole block with the 3 leads that broke down into 15 smaller adaptor in total).

I then came to power the machine up and heard nothing, I then checked all the connections, HDD, optical, CPU(which I didnt change anyways), graphics, fans, basically everything and it seemed fine, i came to boot again and theard the faintest of noises and then nothing again.

Reading back over some old threads using the search option I saw that taking the battery out and wiping the BIOS helped in some cases, can anyone give me any info on this or point me in another direction.

One thing I should mention is that I placed the PCI cards back in different places although I dont think that should cause any power problems.

Cheers
:)

EDIT: the green light on the mobo is on but still no power.

Do the cable for the on/off leds just power the lights or the switching on process as ?

I recently did the same sort of thing. After days of sitting with the power disconnected and the battery out I still had nothing. I then replaced the MB and things fired right up. Can't say that this is your problem, but it was mine.

Make sure you have connected up the power button in the right place.......... Ive done that before, and i couldnt figure out what it was!
