Computer won't start need help please.

My computer all of a sudden stopped working.
The steps before this took place were as follows.

I installed a virtual drive on my computer, mounted the game I made a copy of (The game was my own just hate loading CD's) and started playing it. About 5 minutes into the game the computer just crashed as if I disconnected the power. So I figured I had to many power chords going into my wall socket and split the load to another wall. Once I was all set with both wall outlets I went to push the power and the computer turned on but stayed on a black screen. The screen looked as if it wasn't getting signal from the computer. I hear the fans on, and it sounds like the computer is running but I get nothing.

I disconnected the hard drives and still get the same problem, nothing on the screen not even the bios. I then started taking apart all items like, dvd, cd-r, I even took out all but one memory stick. I am not really sure what I can do at this point, I even switched motherboards to a new one thinking that was the problem but still the same thing. Also when I put the jumper on my cmos I get no response.

Any help would be wonderful,
Joey

Are the fans running at a much quieter level than usual? It sound slike you blew the PSU or you have no video output.

The only thing I can compare the fans to (because they did change) is a car that you step on the gas but it takes longer to shift to the next gear. Like the fans stay at a steady noise compared to when it worked where it would start up kind of loud then drop to a lower sound.

Thanks again!

power supply is the culprit

Joey, I have seen this problem all too many a time. Your power supply is fried. I can tell you what kind of wattage you would need if you post all of your system specs. Antec is the way to go, at any wattage.

PS - You can never overload a wall outlet.

You are so right! I went to fry's and picked up a 500 watter.
I also had to change my video card. =(
My system is a 3.4 Hyperthread with 2 gigs of memory and a 256 video card.
The one inside was a 250 max haha Stupid gateway.

Doing all of this made me dig out the parts from another computer
and picked up a new case and slapped all the parts in this new case.
Now I am having a problem with the "NEW" case custom computer powering on with no beeps and bam like 10 seconds later it turns off. This is a new power supply that came with the case. Any idea's?

So you bought a new case with a power supply in it, and you put this second computer in it? First, check to make sure you have all of the case switches properly attached to the motherboard pins. They can be tricky at times.

I don't know anything about this motherboard, or how old it is, but if it is a newer board, it may require a 4pin 12V plug from the power supply. Check to see if it does. Of course, check that the 20 (or 24) pin plug is properly installed.

Finally, it could be the same issue as before - the power supply is failing. Or, it could just suck. Check to see if it is a POS brand (I only trust Antec and Sparkle), and possibly take it out of the case and feel for its weight. A good power supply should feel heavy (this signifies high quality).

Hope this helps.

Yeah it's a whole new bad boy. I had a bunch of parts laying around so I bought a case with a power supply. The mother board is a new one from fry's. So they computer turns on then turns itself off after like 10 seconds. Any ideas?

Does the new boards BIOS support the 3.4 processor? Might need BIOS update.
Double check the processor cooling fan (did you reapply thermal adhesive)make sure it is mounted properly.
