Computer wont start. Need some one smart here

So I have tested the power switch by connecting the two pins together with a flat head screw driver so it rules out that problem

I tested the PSU by taking it completely out and using a paper clip in the 24 pin connector green wire to black wire trick and it started up fine and even ran the computer fans fine so that rules out the power supply being bad.

What else could I test? It has had a problem starting up for a wire but usually when I turned the power bar on and off it would work again. After I moved to a new house it won't start at all.

Please note that prior to failing the USB connecters by my power switch on the front of my computer stopes working as well but I could still power up

Also when everything is connected there is a flashing green light on the mother board...

What is the next step I should take?

Test your ram.
If you dont have the equipment to test it (im not really sure what you need) then take them both out and try booting up with only one stick, try both.
 
Is this a brand new custom built pc? If so, you may be grounding out the motherboard to the case. Did you use the correct amount of brass standoffs?
 
It has 4 sticks of 2 gb ram in it right now. Shouldn't it still start even if the ram is fried? Like I don't even get a beep outa it. Nothing happens wen I hit power...

No it's not new. I did custom build it but the ppl at ncix put it together for me and everything after I ordered the parts... So it Abilene done right and I used it for about 2 years....
 
If the ram is fried then it won't boot. If no ram is installed it will turn on but you should hear beep codes telling there is no ram installed.

I would try building it outside the case first to see if it boots up. If not, then you can start diagnosing good and bad parts.

Ram can do some really funny things (in my experience)....just give it a shot it'll take 5 minutes. Try with one stick, then try with the rest of them individually.
And follow everyone elses advice here, Im still a huge novice.

Until you've tested this with a known-working PSU, you can't rule that out as the source of the issue. Cheers.
 
I tested my PSU my takin out the 24 pin and putting a paperclip from the green wire to the black and flicked the switch and then the fan started going... So doesn't that mean the PSU is working?

It means it works, but that doesnt put any load on it.

I read that the first time. No, it doesn't. Test it with a known-working PSU. When your computer boots up, the test was successful. Cheers.

Just to confirm even though i got the fans in my computer running off the power supply when i used the paper clip technique but the fans still wont start when i hit the power button. It still means that perhaps the PSU is not working correctly?

I was just wondering because I don't have any way to test another PSU on my computer so I gotta go out and buy a new one just to carry out the test...
 
Here is my exact power supply:
OCZ Technology GameXStream 850W ATX12V & EPS12V

It is good quality, but about 3 years old and never got the dust cleaned out of it. when i opened it up it was covered in dust very badely. (The Antec 900 case i was using really doesn't help reduce the dust that gets into a computer.)
 
Ok so here is an update.
I bought a power supple plugged it all in however my mother board required a 8 pin connector or 2 4 pin connectors for the CPU. This power supply only cane with one 4 pin...

However what I did notice is when I plugged in the power the light on the mobo that was flashing green before turned Into a solid green light. Still nothing at all happened when I tried to boot. But perhaps the was a sign it is fixed and because I dont have the proper CPU connectors on he power supply it wont start?
