Computer wont start up after restore

Ok, so I had a problem with my computer after installing AOL Safety and Security, it kept saying that something for the audio driver was misplaced, but the sound was still working, I just lost the eq. So I went to go restore it to about a month ago and now I go to boot up and I get to the Windows XP screen with the bars scrolling across and then the screen goes black and keeps restarting. I've tried starting in safe mode and it wont work. Any1 know what could be wrong?I'm thinking its the hdd or a problem with XP. Its an Emachines 5212
 
Thanks for the reply, i decided to reformat my whole hdd yesterday and just finally fixed the problem I was trying to resolve.
