i am having problems with my laptop. when i turn it off it gives me a choice of starting windows normally or do a system repair. starting windows normally will just tell me that i need to run the system repair. it sais the problem might be because of a change in software or hardware. if i use the repair function it just shows a load bar for a couple of seconds and then a black screen with a cursor. this does not go away. i have waited for about an hour. anyone have any ideas?

What brand of hard drive is it? Follow the instructions here when you determine what brand it is.

it is a toshiba brand but how do i diagnose it if i cant acess it? i cant get past the booting screen
