computer won't start

FX-4100, gtx550ti, corsair CX500 PSU.

anyways, the computer won't start. i plug it in, and all the fans spin and some of the lights go on, and then it stops completely. it won't start.

Previously, i had a gtx660ti and a corsair GS800 PSU in there and it worked fine. I was told that a CX500 would work with the FX4100 and 550ti.

Help?

Yeah, the cx500 will work fine unless its a bad power supply. So thats all you did was put in a different power supply and video card? Is this somewhat of a new computer build?

ya new psu, gpu and ram

thats it. my 660ti and gs800 are in a different build now

Did you install the brass standoffs between the case and motherboard and in the correct spots?

Why did you replace the GS800 and the GTX 660Ti for the CX500 and a GTX 550Ti?

what is the standoff?

Standoff go between the board and case backplate, only under the grounded holes with a metal strip around them. Keeps the mother board from grounding on the case.

If you don't have the standoffs installed, then the board may be shorting on the case preventing it from starting.

I think you motherboard could be dead or it the power supply. What board do you have and how old is it?
