Computer won't turn on after installing Northbridge heatsink

Hi everyone,

I have a gigabyte ep45-ud3l motherboard and I decided to change the northbridge heatsink because it was getting hot. So, I took out the motherboard and installed the new heatsink and then put everything back in the case but now the computer will not turn on (absolutely nothing turns on, no lights, no nothing). I put in all the front panel switch wires in the correct spot on the board and the PSU is working fine so those shouldnt be a problem.

Also, when I plug the ATX cable into the motherboard, all the lights in the computer flash for a split second.

I WOULD GLADLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP!!!!:confused::confused:

Did you reattach all of the power cables. The P1 main and the P4 CPU power are required.

If that doesn't help, then try to get the motherboard out again and test it out of the case. You might be shorting against the case.

If that is not it, then try pulling all of the nonessential components leaving just 1 stick of ram, CPU and heatsink, and GPU (if no integrated). Try it then. If it will boot to BIOS, then try installing one component at a time till you get the fault again. That will tell you what is causing it.

WOLFEKING....thank you so much for your advice!!!!!...it was indeed a grounding issue. I had used metal screws in non-metallized holes and that was causing the problem.
