Alright, I recently bought a computer off ebay

eBay: GATEWAY GT5068E Pentium D 2.8Ghz Dual Core 2048mb (item 320002677824 end time Jul-06-06 18:34:54 PDT)

I got it yesterday and turned it on. Worked fine. I instaled some things of my own, put in a Radeon x800 and played bf2. It ran awsome and I turned it on and off a few times throughout the day. I stay up pretty late playing bf2 and I finaly turn it off around 1am and go to sleep. When I wake up in the morning I press the power botton and nothng. It doesnt turn on. I try multiple times and I switched the outlet, switched the power cord. Nothing would work. I open it up and everything appears to be in working order. When The power cord is pluged in a tiney LED light on the motherboard turns on so I assume the power is working. I think it might be a problem with the power botton itself but I dont know. Any thoughts?

I think I did hear a pop in the middle of the night that I thought was the wall creaking. It could have been in a dream, it could have been the wall, but now Im thinking It was probly the computer.

If it was a power surge, what part would get damaged? It seams to me the PSU is working because of the little LED light thats on the motherboard and other than a power surge I dont see what could have happend. The computer was off all night.

Try removing the video card you installed and see what happens. If not seeing how it is a brand new PC you shouldn't have a lot of files to loose so you could bring the PC back to factory specs using the restore CDs and start over. If after you restore it and it works you will know that it was something you installed after you first started it up. If it still does not work then maybe that noise you heard last night was something in the PC

But I would try removing the video card first.

Yea, I did try removing the video card, still wouldent turn on using the stock video card

Exactly what happens when you hit the power button? Do the drives fireup? Do the lights on the keyboard blink? Do you hear any beep codes? Does anything flach on the screen?

absolutley nothing, I press the botton and the only sound is the click of the botton. Its as if the botton never got pressed. Nothing appears on the screen, and no sounds come from the computer.

If you place your nose next to the PS can you smell anything? Burnt smell? Can you open the case? If you can there is usually a light on the board. With the PC plugged in is the light lit?

Do you have access to a volt meter? If so check the plug where the PS plugs into the board to see if you have any power.

No smell from what I can smell. The little light on the board is on when its plugged in but other than that no signes of life from my new computer:(

I do not have a voltmeter but I can borrow one from a freind, cant get that till saturday though.

I took the whole computer apart and I couldent find anything wrong. I especialy looked at the psu but I couldent find anything wrong with the internals, nothing burned. Anyway, hoping it is something to do with the psu or case Im gonna buy a new case. What would be a good case and psu combo for around $40?
