Configuration issues Please Help

Hey all

I have a Dell Optiplex GX 1 Pentium 2 computer, 333 MHz processor 192 MB ram,

My problem is that everytime I turn it on, it says configuration error.... time of day not set and I go through set up and set it and then restart and then all is fine,

Well, if you leave it unplugged for more than 30 minutes or so, it will go through that again and I have to go back through setup again.

Now normally this would not be a problem, but this is a customers computer and she knows nothing about Windows at all esp. configurations, and I have to ship this to her, so I know that if it keeps this up, she will get it and have no clue on how to set it, plus the fact that i shouldnt have to redo it everytime.

It should automatically be saved.

Any suggestions on what it is? I also have a parts GX 1 tower if I need parts for this one. What should I do to correct this problem?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

I have thecover off of it and there is not even a slot on this one for a battery.

Are you familiar with P II systems?

Normally once the computer stops remembering settings, especially time/date etc then the odds are the CMOS battery needs replacing. You will find it on the motherboard, like a round flattish camera type battery, but I don't know if yours will be a flip out or soldered. The info should be stated on the battery and will be easy to obtain.

I just searched this pc over and over and did not find the battery.

is there a website I can search to find a picture of just the motherboard so that I can know where to look because it is seriously not here?

I know what the battery looks like, I just cant find it lol

Do you know of a website that will show me the location of the battery?

Thanks,
Kris

No, Iv'e been looking myself. there are pictures on Ebay but not good enough to magnify.

OK! I found it! :)

Now how in the heck do I change them out?

I see no clips or anything and the only thing I have is 1 battery, so I need to make sure I do it right.

Thanks,
Kris
