Configuring Multiboot

I've already got Windows XP Media Center Edition installed.
And i want Linux and possible Vista Beta installed also.
Do i need to backup all my files format and create 3 partitions on my primary drive? or is this a myth?..
Also what is the procedure behind creating multiboot?..
Many Thanks

you need to make a partition for every OS
be careful while setting the file system
NTFS for XP and Vista
Linux for Linux

ooh right!
so i need to create partitions with FDisk and install as normal, but telling the installation which partition to install on?...
are you sure this works?...

yea i'm sure it works
but i recommend using Norton Partition Magic instead of FDISK
i'm not sure if FDISK can set the Linux file system
and Norton PM is much easier to use anyway

my recommendation is to install windows XP on the primary drive (C).

Depending on your linux distro its probably easier to run the install and party/format the HDD whilst doing the install, I did this on Mandriva, its pretty simple.

See Ubuntu also, it has recently been voted the best all round distro. I think quite a few now have graphical installs
