Conflicting Core temperatures.

I've got Speedfan telling me my CPU temp is 80 degrees and Core Temp 1.0 telling me average of 38 degrees across all cores...

I have a funny feeling that it might be the former because everytime I go to over-clock, It crashes and I have to reset it back to stock speed and reset the CMOS. Though that may be because me motherboard is the 'LE' (Light Edition) of this series. Wierd :P

Any thoughts much appreciated as always :)

Speedfan is unreliable for temps, its main function is to change fan speeds.

Use HWMonitor or another temp program to gauge temps.

Check in the Bios what the CPU temp is.

Is your heatsink seated properly with the proper amount of thermal paste?

I personally use Real Temp 3.60 for all the intel chips.

I'm pretty sure It's all secure, I re-did it a few months back. Just installing HWmonitor now, will let you know what it says.

Right, not sure exactly what one to look at, but for all the cores, it's an average of 33 degrees Celsius. However, for "CPUTIN" it says 84 degrees...

Which one should I go for?

I'll have a look at the BIOS when I've finished installing BF3.

BIOS said 30 Celsius, pretty sure I'm ok then ;P

I think this motherboard isn't great for OC'ing, everytime I do I end up having to reset the CMOS. Never mind though.

Thanks for all your guidance everyone :)
