Confused about my temperatures

I'm not worried about them or anything, I know they are pretty normal temperatures, it's just all the reports of lower temperatures with even stock cooling has got me wondering why mine isn't nearly as low.

I'm using an Arctic Freezer Pro 7 CPU Heatsink/Fan
and Akasa 455 Thermal Paste

I have an Intel Core 2 Duo E4400, not overclocked.

It's not a hot night or anything, and i'm getting 42-44*C idle and maxes at 52-54*C under load.

I know these aren't temperatures to worry about, but they aren't too good considering i'm using after market equipment.

I was just wondering if anyone knew any information, maybe the E4 series just naturally run quite a bit hotter than a lot of other processors? I don't know, but any insight would be helpful :)

Thanks.

CPU Temp

I will only use Arctic Silver thermal grease. I had kinda high temps and tried Arctic Cooling MX-1 thermal grease (all I could get in Germany) and temps actually went up! Then I used Arctic Silver and temps dropped 3-5 degrees in a week! Try installing "speedfan" a program that lets you adjust all fan speeds. Kick your heat sink fan up a couple hundred RPMs and see what you get. Try installing extra cooling fans in your case. Just a little advise from me, I am an amateur at the technical stuff.

Thanks, i'll take a look into fan speeds. I will report back if anything gets better.

Might get some Arctic Silver 5 too.

Also I bought a Thermaltake fan controller from newegg and mounted two 80mm exhaust fans in the rear. The 80mm fans are rated at 75 cfm and move a ton of air on high. I have all 4 fans (two 120 intake including the heatsink fan and two 80mm exhaust) hooked up into my fan controller. Never had a problem with it yet. I turn them all up when I use the system and turn them all down when my wife uses it. Helped temps all around (CPU, GPU everything)
