Confused about power supplies

I just need some clarification

The computer I need the power supply is for

antec p182 with 5 fans high performance
p35 mother board
Intel core 2 duo e6850
chaintech 8800GT
4gb ram as in 4 sticks, 1gb each
2 500gb SATA II hdds
1 dvd-rom drive
1 dvd-rw/cd-rw combo drive
a sound card
and 7 usb devices being used at all times

I went to this website

and I put my cpu overclocked to 4000mhz and 1.5vcore (to get the max)
and I put load to 100% at all times

it tells me my total comes to 470W. I find this hard to believe because under load an 8800GT uses over 200W. Would a 500W power supply be enough?
 
just a question, can anyone tell me are those laptop AC adapter all the same that means they can be used in any laptop like IBM AC adapter can be used on Dell is this right or wrong thanks.

No it doesn't. The TDP is only 110W, and with only 1 PCI-E connector it wouldn't be able to draw over 150W anyway. A good quality ~500W with strong +12V rail(s), such as a Corsair HX520, would provide ample power for a system like that.
 
too late I already bought it yesterday because it was 10$ off and I was short 10$ so I got 20$ off the 500W model, this is temporary until I get my new computer,

im sure I wouldnt need a 1000W power supply but would there be any point in getting a 1000W power supply rather than a 850W, and one more question: lets say I get a 850W power supply and im only using 700W of power, would it use 850W of power even though im using only 700W (im concerned because of my electricity bill)
 
No it will only pull as much as needed, as far as a 850 to a 1000 watt it depends on what you need but its alot better to have overkill then not enough.
 
what would happen if I would play crysis on max graphics (close to max) and download at the same time, if it would not pull it, would my computer freeze or shutdown, or would it just go to end point and start smoking?
