I just recieved an eVGA Geforce 7800GT...or so i thought

When installed the card thinks its a 7800 GTX card...all the stickers say 7800GT, hell it even looks exactly like my old 7800GT...wtf is going on.

okay Im 90% sure that the new card is a GTX in deisguise...the board isnt exactly the same. However the old card is now convinced that its a GTX as well...wtf si going on

not really anything you can do if it's a gtx... just buy another one that IS a gt and go on with life

Aren't there drivers out now that let you use 2 different Nvidia cards in SLi, I swear they came out with one, and no Im not confusing myself with crossfire.

Okay new Problem. Ive got both cards convinced that they are 7800GT's (which they are.) Okay, now I have a power problem, it complains that there isnt enough power going to the cards so its turning lowering settings, will it disable the SLI ability as one of these lowerings?

I take it you've plugged a 6-pin PCI-E power connector into each card? What PSU are you using? It sounds like it's time for a new one.

My current PSU is an Antec Smart Power 2.0 500W. Which should have enough power.

I solved the power problem. One of the PSI-E cables came unplugges from the PSU. However, my old card is still convinced that it has a GTX chipset in it.

When I was installing drivers for the new card, is it possible these interfered with the old ones Bios? The Bios version on the old card does not match the Bios version of the new one or what the odl one used to be. Is it possible that it has a Bios for a GTX, so it thinks that its GPU is infact a GTX??

it's a possibility

Okay, problem solved...kind of. Appearently the card I have had for the past 2-3months is in fact a GTX, it has just been calling itself a GT the whole time. I sent a picture to a eVGA tech and he confirmed that it was indeed a GTX card. The Bios however was not correct for a GTX card. so Im going to flash the Bios and hopefully all will be well. And my card will finally know who it is.:)

70W is still very few for those cards.. ;) the 6800GT could go up to 230W under full load iirc :)
Not quite that much :) (unless you're thinking of a full system with one).
