Alright, so on newegg, the 4870 costs more than the 5750, or some, almost as much as the 5770, what's the deal with that? Aren't the ATI Radeon HD 5 Series supposed to be like "revolutionary cards"?

My guess is you wont see the 4770/4850/4870 around much longer. There all to close in performance with the 5750/5770 and price. The 5750 is a pretty good deal. its good as a 4850 and GTS 250 and cost about the same, plus it DirectX11 and 40nm.

The 5770 is in a bad spot, slightly slower then the 4870 but cost as much. If they keep selling the 4870 they need to drop the price on the 5770.

Why do they do this?

All the HD 5000 cards should be better than any HD 4000 card, no?

Well in a way they do. The 5850 is alot better then the 4850. Same with the 5870 vs. 4870.

But if they wanted the lowerend 5700 series to equal the 4800 then they missed it with the 5770. I like the 5750, I think its a all around better card then then 4850, I would rather have a 4870 or GTS 250 then a 5770 though.

Bet they will release a 5790 or maybe a 5830 with 256bit memory to replace the 4890.

You can't say it is worst than 4000 series. Bare in mind they support DirectX 11 and with lower power consumption. This is an improvement. But the point is if these extra features worth the premium. As we all know when the DirectX11 game become popular, there would probabaly tones of better video card in the market.
