Confused on how to OC

Currently I have the Conroe E6300 which is a really great CPU by my standards, however I like to screw with my computer like I do with cars. In other words its fast, handles well, and looks good, yet I know it can do more.

My current set up

MSI P6N SLI-FI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX
Kingston HyperX 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
Thermal Take 700w PS
WD 160GB HD
7950GT 512mb Vid Card with zalman cooler
Zalman 9500
Antec 900 case

I would love to OC my current CPU but the BIOS settings on this MOBO get me all turned around. When I read on how to OC the CPU and I look at my BIOS, it gets even worse because this board has like a preset OC ability in the bios and when I use it the computer restarts and returns the settings to the original.

Right now my temps on this thing barely see 35c under load. I like to game and currently play quite a few games. However I would still like to squeeze more out of my system.

I need some help here I refuse to give up but short of trying to get someone else to do it, I am at the end of my rope!!

I am pretty much self taught, and get most information from web sites and books.Any information you care provide to shed some light on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

If your computer was from a company like Dell or HP you won't be able to overclock the processor, they stop you from being able to do so. So that you go out and buy one of their new systems rather than your PC lasting another year or more when overclocked.

If it is custom, try updating your BIOS.

Auto settings in the bio's never work for overclocking. And when it shuts down it will go back to the default settings. That's normal, and a good thing, since if it didn't it would be very hard to get back into the bio's on the overclocked settings since it would keep shutting down on you.

I am pretty sure the battery is fine, its just I cannot seem to find where to OC my CPU due to this pretty preset OC tool!!!
