I was looking at motherboards and some say "DDR2 1066 is supported by AM2+ / AM3 CPU for one DIMM per channel only". What exactly does that mean?

On a dual channel board with 4 DIMM slots, only one slot
of each channel (color) will run the RAM at that speed.

If you run DDR2 1066 or above, it only supports one stick in each channel. You can still run 4 sticks of DDR2 1066 or above, but it will auto clock it down to DDR2 800. I,ve ran a few with 4 sticks at 1066, you just have to manually set the Speed, voltage and timing in the bios.
