Connect computer speakers to TV

I will be buying a Samsung Syncmaster XL2370HD and I was wondering how I would go about hooking up sound to this TV/Monitor so I could hear audio when switched to the TV part. I'm running 5.1 surround sound with a Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2. My surround sound has 3, 3.5mm cables I have to hook to my card. My card also has a unused audio out jack.

Thank You in advance!

How about some more info. Computer speakers you say? Which ones? And, are you wondering if you can run sound through your sound card to your speakers as well as connecting your speakers to the TV?

The speaker system are Dell J2523. I'm wondering how I would go about connecting these speakers to my TV, which is a monitor and TV tuner all in one. These speakers connect via 3, 3.5mm jacks (Green, yellow, and black) to the back of my sound card.

It looks as though that particular TV only has only one audio out (optical). I can't find anything on your speakers, my guess is the speakers are powered by an amp in the subwoofer. Unless the amp has an optical audio in, I don't think you will be able to connect them directly to the TV.

I have an old speaker system I may be able to use. They are Sony's Model No. HTC800DP. Will these be able to work with this TV?

Is that a "home theater in a box" set-up (receiver/dvd player all-in-one and speakers)? If it's is, all I could find is that it has 2 composite (RCA type) inputs. Since the TV's only output (as far as I could see) is an optical connection, then it won't work. Sorry...

It's kind of a tough thing that you are trying to achieve with what you have. If I understand correctly, you want to watch TV shows in surround sound. Your computer speaker set-up is really meant to work with a computer-their only inputs are gauged around computers type connections, not home theater type connections. As for you HT in a box, since it incorporates everything into the receiver (and being a but older), it doesn't have any digital inputs (optical). I hate to say it but what you probably need is a A/V receiver. You could probably pick one up cheap, and use the Sony speakers.

I have my system set-up so basically everything can run through my receiver (sound wise). But I also run direct connections from my components directly to my TV so that I don't have to always listen to it with the stereo blasting (HDTV cable box, DVD player). I'm in the process of building a HTPC, which I will do the same. I don't have to rely on using my "audio outputs" from my TV to feed my stereo.

Best of luck to you bud...

Will be using a HD receiver from DirectTV for this TV. The receiver has a HDMI port and several composite connections for sound. If I'm correct, I will be able to hook this box system to the receiver for sound?
