Hi,

My question is how can I connect one printer to 2 computers by using an USB Hub ? So I can print my document from any computer to printer without disconnect the pinter cable from this computer to another computer.

Thanks

You mean connect the printer directly to computer 1, and from computer 1 connect usb cable to computer 2, is that right? if so what if the computer 1 is off, and I want to print my document from computer 2?

Thanks for your response

As said the network will work.
Goto control panel and create a workgroup same name on each computer exactly.
Give each computer a name like mine or and wife.
The computer that has the printer goto control panel. Share the printer.
I think you can just find the printer its hooked up to then right click share.
Ya do know the computer that has the printer will have to be on.
Its just another learning curve. You can hit 'F1' at the desktop for help then
type share printer.
Your adventure and learning curve.

Before i forget you goto the computer that wants to use it at the printers in the control panel and search for the new printer on the network. Then you can make it the primary printer.

It wont print. The only other option is to buy a network printer with either Ethernet port or Wireless built in.

you could always use a switch...

Not sure what you're meaning here, but that won't help with the problem of not being able to print while one computer is off.

What Gary was saying has to do with setting up a network. If both computers are connected via ethernet or wireless (directly, or through a router, switch or hub), then they can be set up so that one computer can send print jobs to the other computer connected to the printer.

If you want to be able to do this without having to have a computer connected to the printer that has to be on, the other option is to get a print server (a device that can connect your printer to a network without a computer), or get a printer that has a built in network card.

... or get a printer that has a built in network card.
And that network card can be wired or wireless.

Newer printers go so far as to connect directly to the internet which then enables you to print to it from anywhere (your smartphone, for instance). My sister bought a new HP with that capability which I installed for her. She can print from her smartphone by simply emailing the doc, pic, etc... to a server which takes care of downloading it to the printer and printing it.
