Connecting a new graphics card

My graphics card has packed up and needs to be replaced on my Sony VAIO A215Z - can anyone advise whether it is easy to replace oneself / how much it would cost?

Thanks

Generally, nobody can replace a video card on a laptop without some high level of expert knowledge. Did you already take it out yourself?
The short answer is usually that you need to send it to the pros (wherever you bought it from).

Nearly every laptop has everything intergrated to the motherboard. Changing the processor is even out of the question with most laptops, much less the video card(which is usally intergrated into the main chipset)

What's the problem? If it's just not working, it's probably more than just the video card...

Thanks for the replies. The problem is that green lines started appearing across the screen as soon as i turned the computer on - it wasn't a matter of reinstalling the drivers (which i tried). Hugely irritating given I have only had the computer for 18 months and the guarantee was only a year...

Well, I'm afraid there's not much you can do... Do they appear at the very beginning when you start the machine, or during/after the windows loading screen?

right at the very beginning unfortunately.

external hard drive failed last month too - "irreparable" according to the experts...

not my year!

You'll have to send it back, it could be the video card, wiring or even the LCD itself. It's better to have them work on it.
