Connecting as secondary HD to laptop

I believe I have a boot sector virus as my computer keeps rebooting just after the loading screen.

I don't know much about computers, but my friend suggested I either plug my hard drive into another computer or make it an external HD. He said if I plug it into another computer I can make it a secondary drive so I can access my files.

So, am I able to connect the hard drive to my laptop somehow? If so, how would I do that exactly? Or, would making it an external HD be the better route? Thanks.

Keep the hard drive attached to your machine and try booting it up. Press F8 button to access safe mode options. Arrow down and highlight disable automatic restart on error and hit enter. Now when the computer blue screens, you will see a specific page telling you whats going on. Give us the stop code or messages you see. If you see a message saying unmountable boot volume, it means you have errors on the hard drive and need to run the manufacturers disk diagnostic utility on it.

It says the following:

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (0×00000000 0×00000000).
The system has been shut down.

Someone suggested I put in the XP cd and try to do a 'repair'. Would this work?

if F8 or do a repair, still keep same, you may need to think about the HD is faulty.
