Connecting for a supercomputer

Hello,

first off - I have searched the forum(s), and I have searched google, but I simply lack the proper keywords as I have no idea how to call this what would I like to attempt.

Ok. So I would like to connect a bunch of my computers for a nice pretty beast. It struck me while I was reading some news about new intel processor that will be perfect for supercomputers b/c of optimal speed-price ratio. Anyways, I have:
  • mac mini 1.25Ghz, 1GB ddr, 40GB
  • desktop pc 1.6Ghz, 0.75GB (768MB) ddr2, 60GB
  • compaq evo n800v laptop 1.8Ghz, 0.5GB (512MB) ddr, 40GB
  • 30'' mac cinema display
  • 21'' hp monitor
  • lots of plug n play stuff that require lots of usb ports
and I would like to bundle all that up into one computer that uses win os, has a port for cinema display and hp monitor (dual monitor system) with some awesome specs (4.6Ghz, 2GB+256MB ram, 140GB).

What can I do?
a) connect them in some way with cables
b) grab some tools and attempt to build a computer from parts salvaged
c) be better off (a cheaper solution) simply buying a new pc

Thanks for help.
Cheers,

What you are describing is clustering. From the sounds of it, you have it all wrong. It's not like you can connect two computers and have firefox open faster. It is meant for parallel processing and that requires specific applications to use.

You can't even use it like that to use two monitors more efficiently.

However, maybe you could set up a home network?

your definition of a supercomputer is a little off!

Go with option number 3 because its the only one that make the most sense out of everything you said.
