Connecting from Laptop to Projector

Hi all. I'm about to buy a laptop and I'll be connecting it to a projector at some point at a school. Unfortunately I don't know anything about the projector but I assume the connectors are all the same (I hope!)? What type of ports do they normally have?

My laptop has an HDMI port, I assume that's what I'd need to use? I also have USB-C and USB-3, would those be better?

I'm assuming it's an XXX to HDMI cable I'm looking for, please tell me if not. Sorry for the simple question!

You'll need to find out what inputs the projector has. It may be hdmi or vga, you may have to get a converter if the projector doesn't have the correct input. You won't be able to use your usb for video output on the laptop.

Okay, cool. I'll have a look at the projector in a week or so. But as for the laptop connection, that's definitely done with HDMI right? So I'll either need an HDMI cable or an HDMI to VGA (or whatever else the projector has)?

Thanks for the input John!
