i am trying to connect my laptop to a computer monitor. but its not working out. The screen displays everything up to the windows XP loading screen, but when the laptop is about to go onto my desktop, the screen just turns off.

now i tryed with two different monitor and two different wires but its still not working past the windows load up screen. any ideas on how to fix this?

I really don't know much about laptops, but it could be that the power supply for laptop isn't great enough to power the monitor, how big is the monitor you are trying to use?

well i dont think thats the problem. since the monitor powers itself. its like any regular computer monitor with its own power cord.

You may have to run some kind of dual-display setup, or it might be as easy as going to display properties in control panel and enabling the second display. I would aslo update the drivers in case your current drivers have some kind of problems with multi-display setups.

o man i cant do any of that because my laptop screen is completely busted... thats y i was trying to use a computer monitor. does anyone have any idea on how i can do this...

OK,

  1. Plug the screen into the laptop
  2. Plug a mouse and keyboard into the laptop
  3. Turn the laptop on
  4. close the lid of the laptop

Try that.
