Connecting my laptop to my Home pc

Hi,
I'm really new to this computer thing and am having some trouble. I need a cheap way to connect my laptop to my pc. Can I get a usb adapter cord for this?

You could do a Desktop switch/hub or just use a simple crossover ethernet cable between both computers. If you use a crossover cable you'd just plug one end into the Network Card on the Desktop and the other end in the ethernet port on the laptop. Then you will have to setup both computers to allow one another to communicate.
