connecting pc to Sharp 26" lcd tv

so i want my pc to run on a sharp 26 inch hdtv that i jsut got, and i plugged it in via vga, but when i go to my tv, it says that there is no input signal


is there anything that i am doing wrong

the cable is good, and the tv is on the correct input


help would be much appreciated, thanks
 
Be sure the output is enabled(assuming it's a secondary output on your machine) and you're on the correct input on the TV. Can you confirm the output on another monitor or input using another computer?
 
You may have to go to your video cards control panel and switch primary display from the monitor to a tv. I'm not sure about it though :/
 
the comp has onboard graphics and only one monitor output, it has a geforce 6100 goin for it

i tried playing with the resolutions before i moved it fom the monitor and plugged it into the tv, but that didin't help
 
Did you try setting it at a SD resolution like 640 x 480, or 704 x 480 (Widescreen) just to see if it will display?
