My video card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143049 has an S video plug, but my tv has the A/V cables, and theres about a 15-20 foot gap between the two. my two questions are what adapter do i need to get the two to work together, the VC came with an adapter but it has a blue red and green plug instead of the normal red white yellow on most av cables, will that worK?
and second question is what would be cheaper to fill that 20 foot gap, majority of the length S video, or majority A/V cable?
thanks
Nick

I forget right off, but one of those plugs works with just the yellow RCA connector. Read the manual, I'm sure it says something about it.

As for your second question... Do you mean SVHS or RCA? It really shouldn't matter about the distance, but SVHS is a higher quality interface in general.

hey cool. i have a question that i think is similar my bro wants to hook his low-end computer, (only one video output, vga) to his television. i dont really know what type of converter or connecter he could use though

Next time, please make your own thread. You have to get a PC to TV converter(like a box that requires power, not just a cable) I think I still have an older one laying around if he might be interested.

I would think you can just get the s-video to video adapter and then get an extended video cable of whatever length you need.

Get one of these
vga-1lg.jpg

VGA to RCA

And one of these
3.5mm%20audio%20to%202xRCA%20female.jpg

3.5mm to stereo RCA

And one of these which may need to be longer/shorter
rrcvext-xx-mm.jpg

RCA extension cable

and if you want video to your pc monitor at the same time, get this
26084.jpg

VGA splitter

tx630.jpg

3.5mm splitter

That should be everything you need.
Note: the 3.5mm to stereo RCA goes into the splitter.
the splitter goes into your audio out port.

Yo-Yo - The VGA to RCA/SVHS connecters don't work with many cards. Older TVs(and the RCA connection in general) is interlaced. The VGA connection is NOT. Unless the card supports TV Out(as in the correct resoulutions and all), this will not work. As for the splitter, many VGA monitors do not support TV resolutions. So even if it were to work on the TV, it wouldn't work on the monitor.
